Compost Bins

About Composting
How does it work?
Composting speeds up the natural decomposition process by providing a perfect environment for naturally occurring bacteria and fungi to break down the tissue and change it into a fertilizer
Benefits
What can go into a compost bin?
Where to put the compost bin

- feces
- oil
- grease
- fatty foods

- Reduces waste
- The Green School Club already has bins
In:
- Leaves and grass clippings

- Manure
- Kitchen scraps, such as coffee grounds, stale bread, egg shells, tea bags.
- Shredded newspaper
- You can put a compost bin anywhere outside
- We are thinking of putting the compost bin where the bike rack is.
- The bike rack is near the exterior of the bridge.
- This is an ideal place to put the compost bins because there is easy access to the bins as there are two doors near the location of these bins.
Limitations
Composting...
What is it?
- Snowy, cold weather is not good
- Neither is dry weather, unless the bin is watered to stay moist.
Composting is a process that turns organic materials into a dark brown substance called compost.
