More and more women are pursuing careers as police officers, But are the women being treated equally with the male officers?
They didn't use to be...
When women started working in the TPD 2 male officer resigned from the department. In 1973 the department allowed women to work uniformed patrol for the first time. Since then we now have approximately 142 commissioned and 222 non-sworn females serving in Tucson TPD. Women are taking chances standing up for what they believe is the right careers for them.

As of today there are only a limited amount of women working in law enforcement. What is the reason for this you might ask?
Is there a main reason for this?..
More and more women are pursuing careers in law enforcement and they have the right to. They are willing to serve and protect putting themselves in danger. For this they should not be treated different they deserve all the respect as males receive. Women have to work extra hard to be in these sort of postions therefore should be taken very seriously on all their hardwork and efforts put into maintaining their careers.

Some of the qualifications to be a corrections officer are, a high school diploma or GED , a valid drivers license ,must be 18 years of age, no felony convictions, no unlawful use of narcotic or dangerous drug within the past 3 years, you must be able to read, write and speak english. This goes for both males and females. Thus showing both males and females have the same opportunities to be in this line of work. A very good sign of showing how women and males all have equal rights.
