History

From 1733 to 1766 Lorraine was ruled by Stanislaus I of Poland. It was re-organized by the French government and became a part of France in 1766.

Germany took Lorraine after France lost the Franco-Prussian War in 1870. It was returned to France after World War I ended in 1918. Lorraine was occupied again by Germany during World War II and was turned back to France in November 1944.
