They take a long time to build it could take decades or even centuries and they cost a lot of money. most of the money came from the peoples payments to the church.

Because the was so much stone in the cathedrals many stone cutter were need. there was a head workmen and then there were the others at each quarry. Each stone cutter had his own mark on the stone to first show price but eventually it became a sing of pride and they became more elaborate. to help cut stone they haed on natural falt lines int he rock. then masynons cut them into blocks
