Neutrons

ELECTRONS

Neutrons have just about the same mass as a proton. So what you do is you see how many protons there are and you look at the atomic mass and you subtract the number of protons from the atomic mass, and that's the number of neutrons you have

Sulfur has sixteen electrons total, two in the inner shell, eight in the middle, and six in the outer. This means that it would have six valence electrons

PROTONS

Every single discovered atom has protons, electrons and neutrons. The number of each depends on its assigned atomic number. Protons have a positive charge, electrons have a negative charge and, as the name implies, neutrons have no charge.

The number of protons found in the nucleus of sulfur is the same as its atomic number, 16.

The use of sulfur

Sulfur is a bright yellow crystalline solid that is essential for life.

Most sulfur is converted to sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid is extremely important to many industries around the world. It is used in the manufacture of fertilizer, oil refining, processing waste water, lead-acid batteries in cars, mineral extraction, removing rust from iron, making nylon and producing hydrochloric acid.
