The Mountains

The mountains ini the Arabian Penisula stand to about 1000 to 12000 feet. These mountains have a different climate from the rest or Peninsula. The mountains get a lot of rain from the Indian ocean. People have lived in the mountains for thousands of years. They had houses made of mud bricks They farmed in the slopes of the mountains The teraces were good for farming and also conserved water by keeping it from running off of the fields. As you can see, the people that lived in Arabia's mountains, adapted to the climate.

Coastal Plain

Arabia's Coastal plain ranges from about 5 and 40 miles of island. It ends at some rocky cliffs. The air is really damp and wet because it rains there often. Same as the Oases, the Coastal Plain is very suitable for farming and growing crops. The Coastal Plain is very suitable for farming and it obtains a lot of water for the crops that are grown there.

Oasis Environment

Oasis mostly occurs in areas where the water has been trapped under the ground. The water absorbs to the surface as a waterhole. Plant life sprouts on these fertile lands, but mostly grass and shrubs. Oases may vary in size raising a few acres to big areas of land. Nomads traveled for vegitation and water for their herds. They dug deep well to obtain the water up for their crops.

The Dessert

A lot of the Arabian Peninsula is covered in dessert. The dessert is hot, dry and very unpleasant. Often, the temperatures are up to 120 degrees. When it rains, it does not pass 3 or 4 inches. Droughts are a big problem in the Arabian Peninsula. Many of the animals in the Arabian Peninsula could survive days without food and water, such as the camel. The camel was the main method of transportation and could carry heavy loads for long periods of time and can eat almost anything they see. As you can see, most of the animals try to adapt to the weather.
