Marine Park

Costa Rica created a marine park early March 2011 that is 2.47 million acres.

  • The park is around the Cocos Islands (342 mile off of the coast of Costa Rica)
  • Bigger than Yellow stone National Park
  • Conservationists hope that this park will help endangered marine species to recover from increasing pressures from humans

White Tip Reef Shark

Some predators are Tiger, Galapagos, and Silvertip Sharks.

Bullseye Electric Ray, Colorado Grouper, Cowfish, Crown Shark, Fiddlefish, Golden Cownose Ray, Longnose Eagle Ray, and Olive Grouper are fish that are endangered in Costa Rica.

White Tip Reef Shark, Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks, Leatherback Turtles, Galapagos Sea Lion, and West Indian Manatee are also endangered.
