Health & Environment Impacts
Chemical Properties
-Often known as a noble
metal as it is very un-
reactive; resistant to
corrosion
-Does not rust or tarnish
-Catalytic
-Highly resistant to
attack from acids
-Stable electrical
properties
-Platinum as a metal is not very dangerous, but platinum salts can cause several health effects (Cancer, allergic reactions of skin, damage to organs)
-Can cause serious health conditions
in the working place environment
-In regards to the environment, the only thing we know is that platinum will accumulate in the roots of plants after uptake as the effects of platinum on plants and wildlife have not yet been extensively researched

Fun Fact:
Applications
-Jewelry and ornamentation
-Auto catalysts/ Fuel Cells
-Electronic components (sensors)
-Aircraft engines
-Laboratory equipment
-Medical / dental instruments
