Frost is mainly found on mornings that are cold. Frost can be so thick that it can look like snow. There are three kinds of icy coatings. Hoarfrost is dew that makes a crystal-like, white covering on whatever it touches. Rime is thicker than hoarfrost. It is a coating of ice that can take shape of spikes or feathers. Fern frost is a frozen dew that forms a fern pattern on glass. Frost is another example of fractals.
No two snowflakes are alike. Snowflakes are hexagonal. Snowflakes form when tiny ice crystals stick together. Hail forms when water and ice stick together and forms little or big pellets of ice. Hail can be as big as a golf ball or as small a pea. When rain hits objects that are colder than 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Ice can also cause physical weathering.
Ice Shelves are connected to land. They rest on the water. They are extensions of ice sheets .
Ice bergs are made out of fresh water. Most of an iceberg is underwater, that is why icebergs are dangerous to ships. Example=Titanic
An ice shelf turns into an iceberg when it breaks off of the body of land holding it.
Ice is not just cold weather.
You can ski, sled, and skate in cold weather. You can also sculpt out of ice. Ice is one of Earth's features. When skiing, sledding, and snowboarding, you must be careful not to cause an avalanche. Be careful not to run into trees also.
Not all glaciers disappeared at the end of the ice age. Snow builds up and turns to ice. From time to time the ice builds up and makes a glacier. A glacier is made out of ice and snow, but has water, rocks, and other materials. Glaciers are mainly found at the North and South poles. They can be found at almost any other cold place on Earth, including the U.S.A.
