Touch ID

- iCloud replaces an application called MoblieMe- which acted as a data syncing center for email, contacts, calenders etc.
Passbook
- Passbook is the place where your credit cards are stored on your IPhone
- In order to get a credit card onto Passbook you take a photo of your card with your IPhone.
- You then take this stored photo to your financial institution with ID
- The Bank will then verify the card is yours and Apple Pay is then made operational
Swipe
Security
- When you store your credit card onto Passbook none of the numbers or codes will appear on the surface of the card
- All the cards information has been encrypted
Brave New World
Security
- This is very beneficial, because the IPhones Passbook does not display any credit card numbers that would ordinarily appear on the plastic version nothing can be purchased online or otherwise
- If you loose, misplace or have your IPhone stolen unlike your wallet you can use ITrack to find in this case both your credit card and phone
- Perhaps the best thing is you don't have to contact your bank to cancel your cards because as they exist on your IPhone they are useless to anyone else
Conclusion
- Apple do not claim this new technology to be a silver bullet which completely solves credit card fraud. Its sees it as more a group effort between them the developer, retailers and us the customer
- Apple Pay is not expected to be a hit in Europe, this is because the American system of swiping and signing differs from our chip and pin cards
- Fraud is substantially lower here than in the States
