H.H. Holmes

It was said that Herman's father Levi was a violent alcoholic along with his mother Theodate being a a devout methodist.

When Herman Webster Mudgett was in school it is said he was bullied into having to see a human skeleton, but he secretly enjoyed it.

He also performed surgeries on small animals due to his interest in the medical field, and death.

Herman Webster Mudgett graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in June of 1884.

While there Holmes stole bodies from the lab to disfigure and claim insurance policies on.

As Holmes sat in a Pennsylvania jail cell the police began putting things together as they investigated his murder castle. Holmes confessed to his conviction on the charge or 30 murders. Police estimated the body count to be as high as 200. Holmes was hung on May 8, 1896 at the Moyamensing Prison in PA. His neck did not break and was strangled for 15 minutes.

After marriage

Holmes eventually left all of his wives and children and lovers behind to head to Chicago. While there he became friends with and worked for Dr. E.S. Holton and Mrs. Holton. After the doctors death Holmes Used his swindler charm to acquire the street corner building from Ms. Holton. This is where Holmes built his palace of murder nicknamed "The Murder Castle".

Herman Webster Mudgett was the son of Levi Horton Mudgett and Theodate Page Mudgett and he was also born in Gilmanton, New Hampshire.

H.H. Holmes was never diagnosed as a psychopath, but due to the time period that is not very easy to believe. Holmes was a very gifted swindler. Heused his charm and smooth talking to complete his insurance scams. It is still unknown to the exact reason for Holmes' Killings.

On July 4, 1878 Holmes married Clara Lovering, which led to the birth of their son, Robert Lovering Mudgett who was born on February 3, 1880.

Holmes while still married to Clara married Myrta Belknap, and they had a daughter named Lucy Theodate Holmes.

Holmes also married Georgiana Yoke while still married to Clara and Myrta. All while ending up in a relationship with Julia Smythe (a soon to be victim.

The Arrest

After Holmes' run in with the police he was tailed for some time, but was eventually hauled in on a horse swindle. Holmes was arrested on November 17, 1894 in the attempt to flee the country.
