The Titanomachy

causes:

Before time began and divine creatures ruled the universe the said creator of earth, Gaia, wished to get rid of Ouranous, ruler of the heavens and her husband/son. She had 12 children, the titans(male) and titanides(female), who's ruler was Kronos, lord of time. Gaia developed and plan to do away with Ouranous. To do the plan Gaia gave Kronos a scythe to kill Ouranous. Gaia asked Ouranous to meet her while Kronos would be hiding in nearby bushes ready to strike. When Ouranous came Kronos jumped out of the bushes and sliced up Ouranous. Though after he killed Ouranous he tried to take over the cosmos that, after Ouranous was dead, were ruled by Gaia. Kronos gathered the other 11 titans and titanides and many other creatures such as giants and cyclop's. Gaia became furious and at the point of her death she developed a prophecy saying that someday the children of Kronos would take over just as Kronos had done to Ouranous. Kronos grew paranoid and immediately after having his children devoured them so they could not rebel against him. Rhea, kronos's wife, wanted at least 1 of there children to survive so after having their fifth child, Zeus (after Hestia, Demeter, Posiedon, and Hades) Rhea took Zeus away and gave Kronos a rock in a cloth instead. Rhea was afraid Kronos would find out about Zeus surviving so Rhea fled and continued to rais e Zeus in a cave where Kronos wouldn't find out. After Zeus matured he went to Kronos as a servant and gave him a mixture of wine and mustard which made him vomet all of his children out. The other gods were infact immortal like all others so they grew up undigested in Kronos's stomach. The other gods fled and began to plot the Titanomachy its self.

The war it self

Now the story of the war isn't nearly as complicated as its causes. The titanomachy was a series of battles for the full control of the universe. The gods, being severely out numbered and out matched, were practically no match for there opponents but it was there only chance for control and they knew if they lost they would get eaten all over again or forced to work as servants. Even though they had practically no chance of winning their chances grew over time. Many creatures such as the hundred-handed ones and the cyclops. There were even a few second and third generation titans, children of the original 12, that wanted to join the Olympians, or gods. All of them joined because there was one titan named Prometheus who was said to be the god of forethought which ment he could see the future. He saw the Olympians winning the war and some other creatures found out and decided to change sides. After the Olympians won the war, Zeus decided to have himself and Kronos fight in a wrestling match and the winner would rule the cosmos. As you would expect, Zeus won that too and as a punishment the titans was locked in Tartarus, the deepest and most cruel region in the underworld in which if an anvil was dropped from heaven it would take 12 days and nights to reach the bottom of Tartarus. Though Zeus had a different punishment in mind for some of them. Kronos, before cassed into Tartarus, was chopped up like Kronos had done to Ouranous. After Ouranous was killed the heveans were just about to fall so the general of the titans, Atlas, he was condemmed by Zeus to hold the burden of the sky for eternity.

After the war

Shortly after the victory of the Olympians, many kids were born of the gods. After all the gods were born there were now 14 major gods that included Zeus, Posiedon, Hades, Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hephaestus, Hermes, Dionysus, Apollo, Artemis, Athena, Ares, and Aphrodite. All of these gods were given a role in existence. Though as prize for winning the war Zeus, Posiedon, and Hades were given special weapons and the biggest roles

. Hades was a

helm of invisibility and the underworld to rule. Posiedon was give a trident of seas and earths waters to rule. Finally, Zeus was given the master bolt, the most powerful lightnin bolt in the skies and since Zeus was overlooking all of them and controled the skies, the biggest of the three regions of existence, Zeus claimed the king of the gods.
