Drum Corp and marching band members are family.
- Everyone has the ability to get involved with a marching band around you. It builds positive character attributes such as responsibility, leadership, and professionalism.
What is Drum Corps?
- an activity in which very talented musicians march and perform a musical "show" about 11 minutes long on a football field.
- These members travel the country over the course of a summer and perform these shows for competitions against other Corps

Why should Drum Corps and marching Band be considered a sport?
The competitiveness
Physicality & Athleticism
- As with many other sports, there's a system to the levels of participation in the activity ranging from elementary-school beginners, to international world championships.
- For example, just like how football has a high school level, college level (NCAA), and professional level (NFL), marching band has high school competitions, college level, and then international (DCI).
- Compared to that of other sports, Drum Corps is equal or more in the amount of physical exertion.
- i.e. Studies show that the metabolic rate of a professional soccer player is 7x that of a normal resting person, where as the rate of a marching member was 13x that of a normal person.
- The amount of physical and mental strain rivals that of other top sports
- It's competitive-based, both nationally and internationally
- It has a huge following, even being covered by ESPN on occasion
