Catholic Mass is a prescriptive ritual because it is required by a deity. In order to remain a Catholic one must attend Mass at least once a year.
It is also a periodic ritual because Mass takes place twice a day, once in the morning and then again in the evening.
Priest: Leads the Mass. Required to have a bachelors degree, have been Catholic for at least 5 years, and active in the local church for 2 years. Must also take the vow of celibacy.
Deacon: Assists the Priest in Mass.
