Comparing two news articles!
The title is big, and bolded as well. It doesn't take that much space, so it won't appeal to the audience.
The title is in the middle of the page, so it will be hard for the readers to see where it is, and what the newspaper is about.
The subtitle on the Toronto Star, is close to the description of the event. The subtitle is very long, but at the same time, gives the readers a precise decision of what took place in Japan.
The subtitle on the Globe and Mail is very short, and it's on the top of the page. The writing is very small, and unlike the Toronto Star, it doesn't give us a clear idea of what is taking place in Japan.
The image that's provided on the Toronto Star is medium sized, and it shows a direct picture of what happened after the earthquake took place. The image takes up a good portion of the newspaper, so it's very appealing to the audience.
The image that's provided by the Globe and Mail is very large, and takes up a large proportion of the newspaper. The image shows the readers a more clear understading of what took place in Japan. When I look at the newspaper, my eyes first goes to the image in the newspaper, due to the large size
The description on the Toronto Star is more visual to the readers, and it provides a lot of description of what is happening in Japan. The printing size is very small, and it doesn't take a lot of space on this newspaper.
The description about the earthquake in Japan, is provided in a little chart. When I looked at the newspaper, it was very hard to find the description on the event, due to the small size. This newspaper didn't provide a lot of details regarding this event, because of the large picture, but it did provide the magnitude of the newspaper.
The Toronto Star has a lot of advertisements about random events around the world, such as special information about different countries. At the bottom of the newspaper, the advertisements take up a large proportion of the newspaper. When I look at the newspaper, I see more advertisements than the description.
The advertisemt on the Globe and Mail, is more visible than the Toronto Star, because the advertisements are provided along the sides of the newspaper. This newspaper also provided a clear picture of what the advertisemts are about, and there are more information regarding the advertisements. In my point of view, I see that there is more description on the advertisemts than the event itself.
In my opinion, I believe that Toronto Star is a better newspaper to read. The reason is because the Toronto Star provides more information on what took place in Japan. There are more accurate details provided by the Toronto Star, than the Globe and Mail. The image on the Globe and Mail, takes up a lot of space, so the readers can't get to read what it's really happening. Also, the picture demonstrates exactly what the topic is trying to tell the readers. On the other hand, the picture on the Toronto Star, is also large, but it doesn't take up as much space as the Globe and Mail. There are alot of unnecessary advertisements on the Globe and Mail, that takes up a large proportion of the newspaper. These are the reasons why I'd prefer to read the Toronto Star, rather than the Globe and Mail.
