The Muted Group Theory focuses on the ways language is designed and used by a dominant group and suppresses, mutes, or devalues the ideas, beliefs, or views of subordinate groups.
Muted Group: People with little power who have trouble giving voice to their perceptions because they must re-encode their thoughts to make them understood in the public sphere
Mutedness: Silence and mutedness are not the same thing*
