  • As a representative of Boys Nation in high school, Bill was able to meet the president, John F. Kennedy, where he shook his hand. In that moment, Bill knew he wanted to become a leader like Kennedy.
  • Attended college at Georgetown University in Washington to study international affairs and graduated in 1968.
  • Clinton entered Yale law school, where he met Hillary Clinton, who was also interested in politics.

  • Arkansas attorney general from 1976-1978.
  • Governor of Arkansas in 1978-80.
  • He was re-elected as governor in Nov. 1982 and his main goal was to enhance the quality of education in the state of Arkansas.
  • In 1991, Clinton decided to run for president in 1992 because he felt that he had the best ideas on how to improve the country.
  • November 3, Clinton was elected president, and he took office on January 20, 1993 as our 42nd president.
  • In his first term, his health care reform that was supposed to be a nationwide health coverage was rejected by the Congress.
  • He was re-elected in 1996, but there was a major setback, his impeachment. He had lied under oath saying that he was not having any sexual relations with Monica, but later admitted that he did. (The Lewinsky Scandal.)

  • Born on August 19, 1946 in Hope, Arkansas, 3 months after his father died.
  • While his mother was a nursing school, Bill stayed with his grandparents where they taught him about good morals. For example, they taught him that everyone should be treated equally.
  • When he was 4, his mother got remarried to a man named Roger Clinton. Bill changed his last name to Clinton in high school.
  • His step-father was abusive and an alcoholic. His mother divorced him in 1962.

Accomplishments:

  • More than 22 million jobs were created while he was in office.
  • The home ownership rate increased from 64.2 percent in 1992 to 67. 7 percent.
  • Between 1998-2000, the national debt was reduced by $363 billion.
