- As we see that the wife from the beginning of the story tries to get her husband's attention who is sinking in reading books.
- She even acts like a child, she persists to have everything and anything she finds and wants or thinks about; even her hair.
- She complains she doesn't have anything to play with, not even long hair to play with. She, as well, wants the cat she finds under the rain outside because her dream is to have a baby.
- Unfortunately, her husband keeps ignoring her wanting and that is why she behaves like a child.
The complexity in human relationships
- The young wife doesn't know if she really loves her husband or not, but she finds that she is free now without her husband , and it's obvious for the reader about her feelings according to her reaction.
- She looks out of the window and inhales the fresh air outside where she thinks that she can find the freedom because she won't be restricted by her husband anymore. Therefore, she died at the end of the story because she is greatly shocked.
