Many believe this performance is what made Elvis so popular.

On October 20 1952 an order was signed to declare a state of emergency in Kenya, due to the Mau Mau Uprising

The Mau Mau wanted independance for Kenya from the British. They wanted to rule Kenya with no say from the British any longer.

In 1952 Albert Schweitzer recieved the Nobel Peace Prize for his philosiphy of Reverance For Life

(Discovery & Meaning)

Reverance For Life was his philosophy that in life all we really know is that we are living, and want to continue living, and that we share this with everything in the world so in a sense we are all brother and sister.

The Mau Mau got the reputation of being violent people, but they were this way for a reason. The British would detain members of the tribe and would deprive their victims of food to remain in control.
