THE GRAVE
(AL-BARZAKH)
Deeds that led to being punish in barzakh
- On this photo a 18-year old young man who died in one of hospitals of Oman. The corpse of the boy has been dug out from a tomb in 3 hours after his funeral under the insisting of his father. The boy died in hospital and has been buried under the Islamic law and on the same day after obligatory ablution of the body. However after funeral the father has doubted of the diagnosis of doctors and wanted to identify the true reason of his death. Relatives and his friends shocked when they saw the corpse. He was completely different within 3 hours. He turned grey as the very old man, with traces of obvious tortures and the most severe beating, with the broken bones of hands and legs, with the edges broken and pressed into a body.
- All His body and face were full of bruise. The open eyes-showed hopeless fear and pain. The blood obviously attributes that the boy has been subjected to the most severe torture.
- Close relatives of the dead man have addressed to Islamic scientists who have unequivocally declared that it is available results of tomb torture which the Allah ( s.w.t) and in the Hadis of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) have warned.
- The shocked father of the boy has admitted that his son was spoilt, did not do Solat, and had a carefree way of life, having involved in different sins.
Punishment in the grave can be cruel and harsh. All but humans and jinn can hear the sounds of the punishments in the grave since if Allah (SWT) were to expose the punishments of the grave to humans in this life, then we would all just live in fear.

INTRODUCTION OF ALAM BARZAKH
BELIEVERS
One of the dua’s that Rasulullah SAW used to make quite often towards the end of his prayer was the dua: “Oh Allah, I take refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, from the torment of the Fire, from the trial of life and death and from the evil affliction of the Al-Maseeh Ad-Dajjal” (narrated by Bukhari and Muslim).
- After burial grave presses the dead. If the dead is Muslim grave presses it as if a mother hugs her child lovingly.
- The dead hears the sound of the steps of people who leave graveyard after having buried him. Then two angels namely "Munkar" and "Nakeer" guised in horrible figure come to the grave tearing through the earth and question the dead harshly viz: Who is your "Rab" (Sovereign Lord)? What is your religion? And what did you use to say about him i.e. the Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (SAW).
- If the dead is believer he will answer the questions as: My "Rab" is Allah. My religion is Islam. And he is the Messenger of Allah Muhammad Mustafa SAW.
- Grave of the believer will be enlarged and a door opened to Paradise whereby he will receive the fragrance of Paradise. The virtues and good deeds of believer will adopt beautiful and pretty shapes to please him.
- The souls of believers, be they at their graves or on "ZamZam" (sacred well adjacent to holy Kaabah) or in between the sky and earth of on the heavens or above the heavens or in celestial lanterns beneath the "Arsh" (throne) or in "A'laaIlli-yeen" (the highest position, place) are granted freedom to go where they wish to. They see one another, inquire about their relatives and see those who visit their graves and also listen to their words.
- Obstacle, hindrance, separation, barrier
- The barrier between the physical and spiritual worlds, in which the soul awaits after death and before resurrection on Qiyamah (Judgement Day).
Christianity
- Known as purgatory.
- Purgatorius ignis : Cleansing of fire.
- A state or place of purification, where souls not ready yet for heaven are purified after death.
- The place where the sins of people who does not get the chance to repent before their death are being purged.
- One’s sins must be fully paid before they can go to the heaven.
- The time spent in the purgatory differs according to the number of sins one committed and how severe one’s sins that were not forgiven are.
Concept that is Similar to Alam Barzakh in the Other Religion
- During al-Barzakh, both body and soul receive reward or torment, depending on how a person behave in the world.
- Every person has to go through al-Barzakh whether he is either in a state of delight or torment

Judaism
- Known as purgatory as well.
- An intermediate state through which souls are to pass in order to be purified from sin before they are admitted to the heavenly paradise.
- Souls whose virtues and sins are counterbalance with one another are to go through purgatory. Their sins will be purified.
- Two accepted opinions regarding the time spent for purgatory:
Twelve months
Forty-nine days
- After burial grave presses the dead. If the dead is infidel then the grave becomes so tight that his ribs are intertwined.
- If the dead is hypocrite or infidel he will say: Alas! I know nothing. I used to say what I heard people say. Disobedient believers will face torment in proportion to their sins.
- For an infidel or hypocrite, a bed of fire will be laid in his grave and he will be dressed with the garment of hell-fire. A door will be opened to Hell and the angels of torment will be posted there to torment him. Besides, snakes, scorpions etc. will also keep tormenting him.
- The souls of infidels are imprisoned within the precincts of cremation ground. They are not allowed to go anywhere. However, they see and recognise those who visit their graves or cremation ground and also hear their speech.
