The Balalaika is around 326 years old. The first ever mention of the Balalaika was in 1688 A.D. in Russia. The Balalaika is like an old fashioned guitar with only 3 strings.
It is made out of fine wood and string like steel. The instrument looks like a large triangle and a long stick taped together.
The Balalaika was made to entertain people in different ways. Some Balalaika’s are used in full balalaika orchestras. Some are just used for solo acts. Back in mid-1800’s famous composers like Vassili Andreev (who was alive from 1861 to 1918) used the Balalaika to compose most of his music.
And for Bass and Contrabass the tuning is:
• First string D, Second string A and third string E
The bottom half of the instrument is a hollowed out triangular peice of wood that is thin and it has a long thick neck. It also has three metal strings to make the sound.
For Alto the tuning is:
• First string A, Second string E and third string E
In Conclusion the Balalaika is a very interesting instrument that is cool and AWESOME!!!!!!!!
For Seconde the tuning is:
• First string D, Second string A and third string A
For Prima the tuning is:
• First string A, Second string E and third string E
The Balalaika belongs to the string family because it has stringers and the strings need to be plucked to play it.
Balalaika's get larger as they go. The three different strings on the Balalaika are tuned differently depending on what sound you want and what type of Balalaika it is. The different types of Balalaika’s there are, are, Prima, Seconde, Alto and Bass and Contrabass.
The Balalaika is played by plucking or strumming the three strings.
