Depending on application requirements at each site, start applying for jobs or following through on submitted applications in the New York City/Long Island area.
- Goal: To be selected for a Nurse Residency program to gain more experience and skills
- Goal: Keep in touch with professors for letter of recommendation/references needed for job application
- Goal: Attain a job as an RN on a med-surg floor
- Goal: Save money for a car!
- Value: Choose the hospital to work at wisely, based off of the ability to transfer to a different unit/hospital, good working environment, and benefits
New Year, New Me
21-23
At this point in my journey, I will have attained a number of different experiences and made incredible memories.
- Goal: How much do you make? Make a difference.
- Goal: Savings and retire from nursing practice and perhaps purse a career in teaching other nurses or science based course (anatomy and physiology, chemistry...)
- Goal: Maintain personal relationships
- Goal: Audit classes.
- Value: Never stop learning
- Value: Give back to those that have given me so much
At this point, I will have been selected for a Residency opportunity or accepted a job offer in my region!
- Goal: Start saving money! (401K) and repay loans...
- Goal: Work on a med-surg floor and apply to transfer into the ER (Ideally at North Shore LIJ Medical Center or Lenox Hill)
- Goal: BCEN (Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) offers an exam that lead to the Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) designation), ACLS/BCLS, pursue certification in American Sign
Language for Interpretation Services
- Goal: Get involved in ANA and Sigma Theta Tau
- Goal: Take a class online to continue education
- Value: Stay close to home, desire to travel, and
possibly live in NYC in my twenties
- Value: Fast-pace working environment,
build relationships with co-workers and staff; gain
