Before The fame Continued...
While at Checotah High School she was an honor student, cheerleader, and played both basket ball and softball. She was salutatorian at her graduation in 2001 and after she graduated she decided against pursuing her singing career and decided to go into journalism. She went to Northern State University in Tahlequah Oklahoma and graduated in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in mass communication with an emphasis in journalism. She was a page for Oklahoma State Representative Bobby Frame, she worked tables at a pizzaria, worked at a zoo, and a veterinary clinic. She also was in many beauty pageants at Northern State University and in 2004 she was the Miss NSU runner-up.
Carrie's life before the fame
American Idol
Carrie quotes "Growing up in the country, I enjoyed things like playing on dirt roads, climbing trees, catching little woodland creatures and, of course, singing." and, " I had a very happy childhood full of the wonderful simple things that children like to do." Carrie grew up on her parents farm and had the average life of a child from the country. She preformed in the Robbins Memorial Talent Show, sang at her local church, and sang for local events in Checotah such as Old Settlers Day and The Lions Club.
Later a local admirer got her to go to Nashville at 14 to audition for a contract with Capital Records. They were preparing a contract when their management changed so they had to cancel.
Why We Chose Carrie
In 2004, in St. Louis Missouri, Carrie auditioned for American Idol. Carrie blew the judges away with her performance of "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt. Carrie was one of Simon's favourites and he thought she would get far with her singing. She advanced each time and she was safe each and every time by the viewers at home. Thankfully she won American Idol! And because of that she became a star.
To us Carrie is a very inspiring person, also her personality is great, and when we hear her music it makes us have different emotions, personally that is what makes a great artist. We love her songs that she sings. She has a great voice, and each time she hits a hard note I always think how hard that must be. We also love how each of her songs tell you a story. When she sings her songs you can hear the emotion in her voice that tells you how she feels. For example, when she sings Before he Cheats she genuinely sounds irritated. We think that it is amazing how she can portray how she feels just by putting emotion into her voice.
