  • Olympic's hull was white
  • Titanic's hull was black
  • Titanic wreck was found, the hull was white underneath the black top coat of paint
  • 1936: Olympic was dismantled

Evidence Continued

  • No evidence found that proves it was the Titanic

The switch Theory

  • Many cancellations from high profile passengers right before the voyage
  • JP Morgan owned the parent company of WSL, he cancelled a few days before saying he was sick, he was seen the same day, perfectly fine
  • People connected to JP Morgan cancelled as if he warned them of the plan (Henry Frick, Horace J. Harding, George Washington Vanderbilt)

Titanic conspiracy theories

  • After the Olympic crashed, WSL switched the boats, saying that the Olympic was the Titanic and the real Titanic was put on hold
  • Made minor repairs to the "Titanic", just enough to allow it to run without being as safe as it should be

By Anna Giunta

  • Staged the sinking of the Titanic (really the damaged Olympic)
  • no one was supposed to die
  • WSL would collect insurance money
  • WSL would become heroes by saving the passengers
  • The Californian rescued the Titanic survivors

  • There are some differences in the structures of the two ships
  • Differences would have been spotted by inspectors
  • Had no passengers onboard, only cargo was 3,000 blankets

evidence for the switching theory

The olympic

  • Californian was off route
  • If WSL got caught, would lose reputation and money
  • Risk of killing passengers by sinking ship, WSL could be charged with murder
  • Should have been enough lifeboats for all passengers if WSL was going to purposely sink it
  • The Olympic had 16 portholes, Titanic originally had 14, and when the "Titanic" left for its maiden voyage it had 16 portholes
  • Olympic's windows were unevenly spaced, Titanic's were more even, when the "Titanic" left for its voyage, windows were uneven
  • Was the Californian just waiting for the Titanic to sink and save the passengers?
  • The Titanic's sister ship, the Olympic got in a collision with another ship, caused major damage to the ship
  • The White Star Line didn't have enough money to pay for repairs

Evidence:

SOURCES

  • Year after the Titanic sank, Federal Reserve established
  • Could establish because there was no longer anyone against it

  • Onboard the Titanic, 3 wealthy passengers:

the theory is...

Evidence against the switching theory

-Isidor Straus

-Benjamin Guggenheim

-John Jacob Astor IV

  • Titanic's ID number 401 was all over the wreck
  • Couldn't have been that thorough with the switch
  • All 3 were opposed to the Federal Reserve
  • Captain Edward John Smith would have to been in on it
  • Why would he crash the ship just for some businessmen?
  • He died in the sinking
  • If he knew about plan, would have survived
  • JP Morgan: owner of White Star line (company the Titanic belongs to)
  • JP Morgan read the book, staged the sinking of the Titanic
  • Sinking could kill the 3 businessmen that opposed the Federal Reserve
  • All died in Titanic sinking

The switching theory

  • Years before the Titanic, book "The Wreck of the Titan" was written
  • About a ship called the Titan that struck an iceberg in Northern Atlantic Ocean, exactly like the Titanic

The federal reserve theory

  • Then Morgan and other businessmen would be able to establish the reserve

Titanic

Olympic

The Olympic

Californian

look exactly alike, only have minor differences
