Taj Mahal

Ajanta Caves

- Built from 1631-1653 by Shah Jahan.

- Dedicated to Mumtaz Mahal, the wife of Shah Jahan, who died while giving birth to their 14th child.

- Located in Agra, India

- One of the seven wonders of the world.

- On the side of the tomb, 99 names of Allah can be found as inscriptions.

  • Ajanta caves were discovered by an Army Officer in the Madras Regiment of the British Army in 1819.
  • The paintings depicted in the caves also belong to two different phases. The first phase paintings belong to 2nd century B.C. while the second phase paintings belong to 5th - 6th centuries A.D.
  • All the caves were connected to the stream with flight of stairs, which are mostly wiped out.

Golden Temple

  • It is considered one of the holiest, blessed and sacrosanct places in India. It is a symbol of both beauty and peace.
  • This lake is supposed to have holy water. The temple can be entered from four different sides and thus symbolizes openness, acceptance.
  • The entire top of the temple is made of pure gold and thus adds a lot of pride and beauty to the entire temple.
  • It is the tallest minaret (a tall spiral shaped structure with a onion-shaped dome) in India.
  • There are 379 stairs inside the tower, which lead to the top.
  • The structure of Qutub Minar is built in such a way that, the tower is widest at the bottom and narrows all the way to the top.

  • Throughout India, India Gate is one of the biggest memorials of war.
  • The designing of the monument was conducted by Sir Edwin Lutyens who was the chief architect of Delhi in those times.
  • It is said that foundation of India Gate was conducted by Duke of Connaught who was also the royal highness.
  • Started in 1921, it took approximately 10 years for India gate to finish its construction. it finally ended up its construction in 1931.
  • It is settled at Kalkaji in New City.
  • The design looks same a half unsealed Lotus flower with 27 freestanding "petals" prefabricated of rock. The architect, spell designing the temple took into accounting the interminable beauty of the Lotus.
  • Known as the House of Worship
  • The Rashtrapati Bhavan built on the Raisina Hill is located on the western end of the Rajpath just about a mile away from Connaught Place.
  • Built as the official residence of the Viceroy of India after the capital of British ruled India was changed from Calcutta to Delhi, the Rashtrapati Bhavan was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.
  • An important added attraction of the Rashtrapati Bhavan is the "change of guards" ceremony that takes place on the premises of the Rashtrapati Bhavan every Saturday.

- Located on Netaji Subhash Marg, Old Delhi, the Jama Masjid is at a distance of just around 500 meters west of the Red Fort is located close to a number of other tourist attractions of Delhi.

- Showcasing a rich influence of Persian architecture, the Jama Masjid is one of the oldest mosques of India.

- Built by the emperor of architecture, Shahjahan inside his newly built capital Shahjahanabad, the Jama Masjid was built in 1656.
