* compliance refers to changing one's behavior due to the request or direction of another person
* Informative Social Influence: The group may provide valuable information, but stubborn people will never listen to others.
* Normative Social Influence: Influence resulting from a person’s desire to gain approval or avoid rejection. A person may respect normative behavior because there may be a severe price to pay if not respected.
Seven factors that increase conformity (Asch):
* Subject feels insecure
* The group has at least 3 people.
* The group is unanimous.
* Subject admires the group.
* Subject has made no prior commitment to any response
* Others observe the subject’s behavior.
