Middle Colonies

New Jersey

Conclusion

Modern products

Colonial products

Jonah Young

In New Jersey, iron ore, livestock, and wheat were all major products of colonial New Jersey. Iron ore was used for metal products and tools. Livestock was raised for meats and many other products produced by the livestock. The wheat was used as a feed and was ground to make flour.

The modern products of New Jersey are fruits, dairy products and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are consumed by mainly humans as a side dish or snack. The dairy products are also consumed by humans as milk, cheeses and other dairy products.

Clearly, some colonial products have changed as a product as well as the areas of distribution. As time went on we found easier ways of harvesting and collecting these products. In colonial times they didn't have the technology we do today. They had to hire people to plant and harvest there crops compared to the modern day tractors and farm equipment. Not only did that get easier, distributing them got easier. Today we have planes, boats, and trains to ship all of our products around the world in a shorter amount of time allowing to ship perishable products such as milk, which would have spoiled on the boat back to Europe. This all shows that life today is easier and better for the economy than it was in the Middle Colonies of colonial America.

Delawares colonial products were wheat, rice, and indigo. The wheat and rice could be ground into flour and used to bake goods. The indigo was used to dye the various types of cloths that were produced.

Pennsylvania

Dairy products, soy beans, and poultry are all modern products. The dairy products are consumed by humans as milk cheeses and butter and many more dairy based products. Soy beans are made into different types of foods. Poultry is also put into many dishes.

distributed: distribution deals with logistics; how to get the product or service to the customer; the commercial activity of transporting and selling goods from a producer to a customer

In modern New York they produce dairy, apples and vegetables. Apples are eaten as a snack or cooked in with something along with the vegetables. Dairy is one of the main sources of calcium and is ate or drank across the world.

New York produced corn, lumber, coal. Corn was an important product because they had to feed people and livestock with it. Coal was also essential to survival during the winter, as they used it to burn and to keep warm. The lumber was used to build houses.

For my prezi I am doing the middle colonies. The middle colonies are made up from New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. a couple share the same products but still remain unique to the state. Some products have changed and some where its being exported to. I believe they have changed due to the new technology and equipment built to make collecting and distributing these products easier.

produced: create or manufacture a man made product to manufacture, make, produce or refine; bring forth or yeild.

consumed: a person or organization that produces or uses a product or service
