The Winter Hunt:
- The king gathers all his huntsman and sends them off to the forest to hunt for various animals.
- Some animals include, deer, hare, fox or boar.
- Boar is the most dangerous and exciting to hunt
People Affected:
The manor that Tobias' uncle owns is one of the best places to hunt for sport. Tobias was able to join them in the most dangerous hunt but missed the killing part because he got left behind. He only saw the cut up dead boar.
- During the winter hunt, the Huntsman and Tobias are affected.
- The Huntsman are affected because in the end of their hunt, their reward is food.
- Tobias gets lost twice during the hunt. The first time at the beginning of the hunt and the second time at the end.
- Tobias was affected by this because he wasn't able to see how they killed the boar since he got lost the first time.
- At the end, the second time he gets lost, he ends up missing supper.
Interesting Information I Found
The interesting observation that Tobias made in his diary was that while the hunting was happening...
- the dogs wore bells around their necks
- the bells scare the beast they are trying to hunt
- otherwise the beast could kill half of the pack
- after the killing of the boar the dogs are fed their guts
Something I found interesting was that it's harder to hunt without the dogs, in my hunting experience we never use dogs we shoot from a blind instead from up close like the huntsman.
