The president of Turkey is Abdullah Gul since August 28, 2007. The prime minister is Recep Tayyip Erdogan since March 14, 2003. President elections occur for a 5 year term. The last elections was held on June 12, 2011.

Some of Turkey's major trading partners are Germany, UK, Russia, U.S, Italy, France, China, Iraq and Iran. Turkey is an oil and natural gas producer.

  • Industries-27% of GDP. Some products are textiles, food processing, automobiles, electronics, mining(coal, copper), steel, petroleum...etc.

Exports-Commodities: Food supplies, textiles, metal manufactures & transport equipment.

Exports-Partners: Iraq, Iran, U.S, Russia, Italy, & France.

Imports-Commodities: Machinery, chemicals, semi-finished goods, fuels, & transport equipment.

Imports-Partners: Russia, Germany, China, U.S, Italy & Iran.

Turkey has a population of 80,694,485. Turkey's population contains a 99.8% of Muslims and 0.2% of Christians and Jews. Islam is the major religion in Turkey. The Turkish people, or the Turks, are a ethnic group that speak Turkish and Kurdish. In the Turkish

culture, hospitality is very important.

Food and Beautiful attractions

From 1923-1997, more than 1.6 million people immigrated to Turkey, particularly from Balkan countries. There had been a lot of illegal immigrants in Turkey. Today, there are still many people who are waiting to immigrate to Turkey but because of the big population, they don't have enough space for more people. It has been stated by Migration Information Source that, "Turkey is

likely to become a country of first asylum."

In Turkey, the health care may not be free but it's cheaper than the U.S or in many european countries. Private health care has been increased.

Turkey tends to have hot and dry summers. Also mild, wet winters and harsher in the interior.

Education in Turkey is very important. Students are required to finish their first and secondary education in order to go to university.
