School Caretaker Description
- School caretakers take on a large number of roles depending on the school they work in. Some of their normal roles include security and keeping the premises safe. Grounds maintanence e.g: picking up litter and maintaining shrubbery. Cleaning up all spillages if a cleaner is unavailable, and making sure toilets are kept to a useable standard. General maintanence which can include: changing lightbulbs, repairing locks and doors. In some schools they may also be responsible for the pool which can include checking the temperature and the amount of chemicals in the pool. Caretakers are also responsible for contacting and liasing with any contracters that may need access to school ground or carry out work in the school.

- To ensure all pupils uphold the schools rules and regulations and take effective measures in cases of misbehaviour.
- To make sure all pupils are taught all areas of the national curriculum .
- Taking responsibility for the progress of a class of pupils and organising the classroom and learning resources.
- Preparing and marking to facilitate positive pupil development.
- Staying up to date with changes and developments in the the curriculum
- Participating and organising in extracurricular activities, such as trips, social activities and sporting events.
Roles of the Education Service
Teaching is the main role, but not the only role in education. There are roles in finance, administration, technical support, SENCO's (special educatioanl need co-ordinators) with roles for teaching assistants and educational psychologists. There are also special roles which can include examining and marking, school inspection and policy making.

Roles of The Probation Service
There are three main roles in the probation service, theese are administration, management and psychologists. Although within theese there are lots of other roles that people do. In administration there are receptionists, security jobs, call center staff and many more. In management there can be divisional and regional managers, halfway house managers as well as others.
