The Masai Mara
- The Masai Mara is located in south-west Kenya.
- It is one of Africa's greatest wildlife reserves.

- The Masai Mara gets it's name from the Maasai tribe and the Mara River that runs through the park.
- The warrior is a very important source of pride in the Maasai culture, from a young age Maasai boys learn the responsibilities of being a Maasai man and warrior.
- The role of a warrior is to protect their animals from human and animal predators, to build kraals ( Maasai homes) and to provide sucurity and safety for their families.
- The Maasai territory overlaps with the Serengeti plains in Tanzania and the Masai Mara in Kenya
- The location of Kenya between the Indian ocean and Lake Victoria means that people from around Africa and the Middle East have traveled and traded across it for centuries.
- The bones of the earliest human ancestors ever found were found in Kenya's Turkana Basin.
- There is a lot of slavery in Kenya's past. During the 1600's and the 1700's many Kenyans were kidnapped and taken as slaves by Americans, Arabs and Europeans.
