FLOW CHART DIAGRAM
A flowchart is a type of diagram that represents an algorithm, workflow or process, showing the steps as boxes of various kinds, and their order by connecting them with arrows. This diagrammatic representation illustrates a solution model to a given problem. Flowcharts are used in analyzing, designing, documenting or managing a process or program in various fields.
Procedure of work
A flow chart presents generally the only point of beginning and the only point of closing, though it can have more, providing that it expires with the needed logic.
The following ones are actions before the accomplishment of the flow chart:
- To identify the principal ideas on having been included in the flow chart.
- There must be present the author or person in charge of the process, the authors or persons in charge of the previous and later process and of other interrelated processes, as well as the third interested parts.
- To define what expects to be obtained of the flow chart. Identifies the one who will use it and how.
- To establish the level of needed detail.
- To determine the limits of the process to describe.
Types of flow charts
The steps to continuing to construct the flow chart are
- Vertical format
- Landscape format
- Panoramic format
- Architectural format
- To establish the scope of the process to describing. Hereby there will remain fixed the beginning and the end of the graph.Frequently the beginning is the exit of the previous process and the end the entry to the following process.
- To identify and to list the principal activities or subprocesses that are included in the process to describing and his chronological order.
- If the level of definite detail includes minor activities, to list them also.
- To identify and to list the points of decision.
- To construct the graph respecting the chronological sequence and assigning the corresponding symbols.
- To assign a title to the graph and to check that it is complete and describes with accuracy the chosen process.
