Samurai

Serfs

  • Did the most physical labor in a Manor.
  • Mostly worked in fields and shops as a blacksmith or merchant.
  • Were at the bottom of the Feudal System.
  • Had a very important role because they provided the food for the Manor.

Nobles

  • Were basically the government of a Manor.
  • Dealt with the laws of the Manor.
  • They liked to hunt and inspect the land of the Manor.
  • Jugglers, Jesters, Acrobats, etc. were used to entertain the Nobles.

Knights

The Lord

  • Owner of the manor
  • Controlled what others that lived in the Manor did.
  • Was described as a Vassal or Liege.
  • Was a subservient to a Noble or a King.
  • Was the Kings immediate superior.
  • Usually owned 1200-800 acres.
  • Lived in a very big house, not a castle.
  • Knights served the lord.
  • They gave the a oath that they will give there life for the lord.
  • Knights fought battles for the lord.
