An idea of what the map will look like

Our alterations to the TTU map

Current map at each bus stop

  • Larger map for clarity
  • An up to date TTU campus map at the beginning of each fall semester
  • Abbreviated names on each building
  • A 'You are here' indicator
  • If map is large enough, the citibus routes

An idea of where, and how large the map will be

Budget

The budget for this project would be $1,702 and consists of printing 16 3 ft by 4 ft maps to place on each bus stops and adhesive to post maps. This budget also includes the price for upkeep of the maps with the cost for replacing them each semester and maintenance.

Methodology

We conducted a survey of 9 questions to gather information about Texas Tech students experiences with campus maps.

Timeline

This project would be implemented at then end of this TTU fall semester and would last 21 days

Day 1-4: Design new TTU map.

Day 5-7: Revision of map.

Day 8-9: Finalize map.

Day 10-12: Measurement/Surveying of Bus Stops

Day 13-19: Printing of maps

Day 20-21: Post/Display maps

Qualifications

Our qualifications as students is experience in upper level writing intensive courses. As students we also spend a majority of our time on campus and understand the needs of our peers.

For designing the new TTU campus map we would recruit someone with professional experience in map design.

For upkeep and map replacement we would make a small committee of 2-4 people on the student government association.

Closing Remarks

Problem

TTU campus maps are too small, outdated, and confusing to read.

Recommendations

Redesign the map to be larger, easy to read, and updated. Post the new map on every TTU campus bus stop

Ramifications

Students will find their way around campus easily and be able to get to class on time knowing their way with the help of each map
