Ahn is the first child of Hien Do.
Anh was born on the 2nd of June 1977, in Vietnam.
Anh and his family fled to Australia as refugees in 1980. In his 2010 autobiography,The Happiest Refugee, Anh tells of how his family survived five days in a leaky fishing boat packed with 40 Vietnamese refugees fleeing across the Indian Ocean. “We were crammed in like sardines,” he said. His book The Happiest Refugee has won many awards, including the 2011 Australian Book of the Year, Biography of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, as well as the Indie Book of the Year Award 2011.

Anh has written a book about his amazing life story.
He finished a degree in business and law at the University of Technology, Sydney. When he was at an interview for a big job as a lawyer, the interviewer reached across the table and said 'congratulations Anh, you've got the job'. He added casually 'by the way, you'll be working about 60 hours a week'. He was doing stand-up comedy as a hobby at the time and one of the old comedians said he worked only three hours a week and made more than double his lawyer's salary. So he switched out of laziness.
Anh Do was also on Dancing with the Deals. This was where the Dancing with the Star contestants competed on Deal or no Deal and someone in Australia would win the money. Anh ended up winning 200,000 for a home viewer in Melbourne.
Anh gives money to the Australian cancer research foundation which is dedicated to helping find the cures for cancer through continued funding for world class cancer research in Australia.
Anh Do gives money from his book sales to Loreto Vietnam-Australia Program which provides shelter, food and education for disabled and destitute children.
