CONFLICT:

In chapter 11 Ralph, Piggy and Samneric are left without fire and decide to travel to Castle Rock to retrieve Piggy's glasses. The boys carry spears with them while Piggy brings the conch. When they arrive, Ralph blows into the conch to signal an assembly as Jack makes his way back from hunting. Ralph then accuses Jack of being a thief and the two boys begin to fight, hitting each other with their spears. Piggy speaks up, reminding Ralph of why they are there and he stops fighting to address the tribe. He reminds them of the importance of maintaining a fire so they can be rescued, but the children just laugh at him. Jack then orders his tribe to tie up Sammeric so that they are forced to join his camp. Ralph charges at Jack and the two begin fighting again but are interrupted by Piggy holding up the conch. Piggy asks them to consider the way they're behaving and if it is better to act civilized or as savages. At this point, Roger lets a big boulder fall down and it crush both Piggy and the conch. Then the tribe begins to chase Ralph through the forest, but he manages to get away.

Conflict arises between Ralph and Jack over the stolen glasses and the argument results in the murder of Piggy.
