Electric Chair

  • He got married in a total of 5 times.
  • He had 2 children.
  • He started to burn down tobacco farms for large sums of money.
  • His first murder was when he was 36 on September, 1969. His victim's name was "Angie".
  • At age 43, he was found guilty of First Degree Murder.
  • Six weeks after his first murder his head started to hurt and he knew that it was a signal for him to kill.
  • When he was in prison he cared about his reputation as the "Power Man".
  • When he was 44 years old took stand and confessed to every murder he was accused of along with two others.

Donald Henry Gaskins fits under the "Social Disorganization Theory", meaning that a person's physical and social environments are primarily responsible for the behavioral choices that the person makes. For example, in Donald's case, his mom and her lovers would have sex in front of him and sexually assault him, while his mother would just watch and not do anything. In school Donald would get bullied and beaten by his teachers and classmates. The environment that Donald grew up in affected him when he became an adult; he grew up despising women because of his mother.

  • The South Carolina supreme court affirms Gaskin's conviction and gives Gaskin's death sentence for the murder of Rudolph Tyner.
  • Gaskin's attempted suicide by cutting his wrists on the day of his execution, but he failed.
  • The only family at his execution was his 20 year old son, Donald.
  • Was executed in the electric chair.
  • He died on September 6, 1991 at 1:05am in Columbia, South Carolina.
  • Died at the age 58.
  • He was the 4th person to die on the Electric Chair after the death penalty was reinstated in South Carolina.
  • He confessed to have killed to 90 people, but while on death row he confessed to have killed 100-110 people.
  • He was convicted of 8 murders.
  • The youngest age of the victims he has murdered was a 2 year old.
  • His method of killing was suffocating, stabbing and mutilation.

  • Many of the men that his mother dated would abuse and sexual assault Donald and his mother would just watch.
  • In 1943, Donald's mother married a man named Hinnant Hanna and he had four half-siblings.
  • His step-father would abuse them regularly.

  • Gaskins was given the nick-

name "Pee-Wee" due to his small

height and weight.

  • When he was just one year

old he drank a bottle of Kerosene,

which caused him to have

convulsions until he was three years old.

  • Donald was teased and made fun of at

school, which as a result caused him to drop out at the age of 8.

  • At the age of 12, he started to work at an

auto garage and he met two boys, Danny and Marsh, they considered themselves as the Trouble Trio.

  • Daniel didn't know his real name until he

went to trial at the age of 15.

  • He went to the South Carolina Industrial

School for Boys

  • He went to reform school in 1950 and got

raped by Boss Poss.

  • He went to solitary confinement as

punishment from running away from the reform school.

Arrest/Capture

  • He was charged with assault with a Deadly Weapon, with Intent to Inflict Bodily Harm so he got sentenced to five years in South Carolina State Penitentiary in Columbia for the charges. While in court, he called the judge a son of bitch and was given an additional year.
  • He was charged with being a fugitive from the penitentiary and with helping Betty Jean’s husband escape. Pee Wee was sentenced to six months in jail.
  • PeeWee was transferred from the Pen to Richland County Jail in Columbia, SC. He was tried in federal court and sentenced to 3 years in the Federal prison in Atlanta, GA.
  • Gaskins always managed to escape prison, but he always got caught and he would get sentenced for a much longer time for being a fugitive.
