Scots-Irish Flee English Oppression

Many Native Americans moved to the trans-Appalachian

region, the"middle ground" where no colonial power

was established.

Old remnants regrouped with others and interacted with the

Europeans.

The growing desire to trade with the Europeans lured the

Indians to trade individually with the Europeans.

The collective resistence to European aggression began to

diminish.

The Scots came mostly from Norther Ireland.

Spanish in North America

* The Spanish explored and colonized north of Mexico, but their presence was interrupted by the resistance of the Indians.
