What does the SCLC do?

The founders of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference are Martin Luther King Jr., Joseph Lowery, Fred Shuttlesworth, Bayard Rustin, and Ralph Abernathy

Some Accomplishments of the SCLC are:

During the Civil Rights movement, the SCLC held many nonviolent protests and their motto was "redeem the soul of America". They joined a few Civil rights groups together.Today, they help poor African Americans get jobs.

The SCLC filed class action law suits agaisnt the government that had segregated employee lunch rooms, voter registration drives, store boycotts,organized literacy programs, voter education, community organizing programs,and held rallies and marches.

The Southern Christian Leadership Conference was formed after the Montgomery Bus Boycott. It was formed January 10, 1957.
