Although their ending was not in the book, we know that the Apaches lost during the Apache Wars to the settlers of Southwest USA*.

- The Apaches lived from AD 1000 from the South
- After AD 1200 Indians arrived to Arizona and New Mexico
- The Lipans first appeared in Texas panhandle in the 1500's
- In the early 1700's Comanches invaded Lipan territory from north
- "Apache" is from the Zuni word apachu which means "Enemy".
- The people that lived in present day Arizona and New Mexico before the Apache were threatened by the Apache
- the Apache had to fight for their spot to settle.
- the Apache were not just one tribe, instead they were about six tribes together ( two of them included the Lipans and the Mescalios).
- The Lipans were nomadic (traveled when hunting)
