- Juan Ponce de Leon was inspired by Don Pedro and Christopher Columbus because they were excellent explorers/soldiers, since Christopher Columbus discovered new land. Juan Ponce de Leon was influenced by his wife Dona Inez because she was always happy and she believed in Juan.

- Juan Ponce de Leon had a famous quote: "I will call it La Florida. Juan says that after discovering new land(which today is called Florida.)
- Juan Ponce de Leon started out trying to find the island of Bimini, which the Indians claimed had plenty of gold and had the fountain of youth, which is told to make you look younger when you drink the water.

- As a child, Juan Ponce de Leon delivered messages for the royal court and always wanted to be a soldier. Later on he became a soldier for Spain. He had also helped a soldier named Don Pedro Nunez de Guzman, by getting him ready for training.
- As an adult Juan Ponce de Leon became a soldier and later on he had found out that a man named Christopher Columbus had discovered new land and was going on a second voyage. Juan was recommended by Don Pedro, and was able to go on a voyage to new land. Later on he became governor of Puerto Rico. He had also bought three ships to discover new land.

- On Juan's Voyage to try to discover Bimini, he had three ships: The Santa Maria, The San Cristoval, and The Santiago.
- Finally, another Spaniard named Pedro Menendez de Aviles, landed where Juan had, fifty-two years later, and started the city of St. Augustine (the oldest city in the U.S.)
