Why?
Many people wanted power and tried to have control over as many places as they could. Sometimes they would do whatever it took to gain control of another territory.
Imperialism is
It had caused a lot of rebellion. Because some of the places that were being taken control of didn't agree and tried fix it themselves, it caused fighting with countries
a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force.
It took away culture. When the British, French, along with others would take over a place they would often try and make the people in that place follow their beliefs and speak their language which got rid of some cultures.
