Process Steps
Next Step - Meet with the employee
Every process contains pre-defined steps.
Gives you a quick reference as to where you are in the process.
Most common question I get: Why can't I access the employee sign off as I am meeting with my employee?
Answer: You are not in the "meet with employee" step in the process. Submit the form in the "writing" step to move it forward.

Save & Submit
Employee Sign-off
Manager Sign-off
- Use "save" if you would like to save your work and come back to edit
- Use "submit" if you have completed the form. This button will save the form AND move the form into the next step.
Future Goals
- Meet with the employee.
- When you are ready for the employee to sign-off, click submit (go through spell check, language check).
- You will then see this link at the top of the form.
- You can complete this at the employee meeting or after the meeting.
- You must go back to your "HOME" button to see your "manager sign off" task.
- The employee cannot see the appraisal and it is not considered complete until you complete your sign-off.
- Click the checkbox next to the employee name (or the box at the top to select all).
- Once you click one check box, the "launch self appraisal" button will light up
The employee will enter their domain password for their electronic signature.
Self Appraisals
- Self appraisals are optional
- If you decide to launch self appraisals for your employee(s), be consistent. At minimum, all employees in the same job should all be assigned self appraisals.
- You must follow up on a due date for the self appraisal. Halogen cannot set a separate due date.
- I suggest an email to your staff when self appraisals are launched providing a due date.
- You should not edit the form until the self appraisal is complete - launch these early.
- Employee self-appraisal scores will show on the appraisal as you are scoring
- Consider 2-3 goals per employee
- Make them meaningful. Can you tie a goal back to a strategic goal for the hospital?
- Provide some detail and give a due date
- Lists tasks due by "process".
- Click each "task" to show which employees have an appraisal or form that should be completed by you.
- Some tasks are for your own employee record - (i.e. sign off on your job description or sign off on your own appraisal.)
Can I ask my employee to suggest a future goal?
Yes! On a self-appraisal you can ask the employee to input a future goal..... However, please remember that you are the one formally assigning it.
Time Saver!
Scoring Goals
You MUST copy and paste their suggested goal to the goal assignment box.
You can "mass assign" goals to multiple employees!
- Make sure goals exist prior to March 31, 2014.
- You can add past goals here, but they will not populate back to the employee profile, they will only show on this form.
- Weighting - make sure the total weighting of all past goals equals either 100% or 0.
Scores & Comments
- Score using the radio buttons
- You may edit that score under manager score
- If the score is anything other than a "2", please make a comment on that competency
- Scores calculate as you go.
You can view past appraisals, feedback (journal notes) & more and copy and paste to this new appraisal
