Most Chinchillas are found in the Andes Mountains in Bolivia and South America. Chinchillas live in groups called Herds. Chinchillas are also found in different countries in South America such as Bolivia, Peru, and Chile.
First the mom gives birth to baby Chinchillas. The Chinchillas drink milk from there mom to help them grow. After eight months the Chinchillas are strong enough to be let free. When their adults, they protect themselves by being cautious to their surroundings because hunters kill them for fur. They also protect themselves by hiding in burrows and crevices. That is the Chinchillas life cycle.

Chinchillas eat fruits, leaves, seeds, and small insects. They can also eat raisins and fresh veggies too. Fruits are treats for them so they should only have one treat a week, if you have them as pets.
The chinchilla's predators are snakes, canines, felines, skunks and carnivorous birds. Chinchillas can escape from the predators by releasing part of its fur to get away, the fur will grow back soon.
