Reasons for coming to America: Romania was in a depression,

and was being ruled by Hungarian rulers. Romanians fled

to America in hopes of more pay and better working conditions

Main Idea: Romanians and Hungarians hoped for higher wages and better working conditions in America.

Irish Family's (Keane, Moroney, Glynn, Hallinan)

Reasons for Immigration: Due to lack of jobs/land, Americas need for labor appealed Irish citizens (usually of young ages 16-25)

"The Great Hunger of 1840"- If Irish citizens were unable to pay rent on their land, it was taken away. This often led to starvation.This Made Americas need for workers very appealing

Main Idea: Due to land being taken, the kids of the family left in search of a job.
