Human causes of extinction
- Humans destroying animal habitats
- Polluting the earth and air
- Climate Change/Global Warming
How to prevent Specie Extinction
Climate change and global warming
Destruction of species habitats
Pollution of air and land
- Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the ecosystem that cause damage to the natural environment.
- Clearing the habitats for agriculture, mining, and logging can lead to animals needing to move to a new environment.
- Species who live in cooler environments will have to move when the temperature becomes too warm.
- If rapid global warming continues, it could lead to another mass extinction of species in the near future.
- Acid rain is cause by pollution in the air which can come in many forms of precipitation and effects all species but it is especially damaging to marine species.
- Human activity is responsible for more than half of forest destruction which is ten times greater than the regrowth.
- Global warming can cause climatic conditions that harm the ecosystems where species live.
- With the large amount of habitat destruction, the ecosystem may no longer be able to provide the needed resources for many species to survive .
- When the land is polluted, small animals can consume harmful chemicals that can be passed up the food chain to larger animals that can lead to death among the species and eventually extinction.
- Reduce threats to wildlife that can cause damage to the species resources.
Deforestation
Air Pollution
- Preserve and restore the environment- The environment is an important part for specie survival.
- Protect endangered species- stop the death of all endangered species so there can be a significant growth of the species.
Extinction
- Extinction is the death of every member of a species.
- In the last 500 years about 1000 species have gone extinct.

- Extinction is the natural process that occurs over hundreds of millions of years.

Sixth Mass Extinction
http://www.learner.org/courses/envsci/unit/text.php?unit=9&secNum=6
- In history, there have been five great mass extinction and now with harming human activities we are in the midst of the sixth extinction.
- The population size of around 500 million species on the earth is about 28% smaller because of humans.

- Scientists believe, by the year 2100 human activities would have cause more than half of the marine and land species to become extinct.

- 99% of current endangered species are at risk due to human activities.
