Mice And Men Blood Is Thicker Than Water

Explain how the diction and characterization indicate the author’s point of view about a human rights issue

How The Author Introduces Human Rights Issue

Resolution Of The Plot Which Is Indicated From The Author's Point Of View.

Example From The Novel

The novelist's word choices are very neutral and informal. This is because the characters educational backgrounds do not constitute them having a vocabulary equal to that of a former president. The characters speak simply, getting across what they have to say without the use of flowery language. This probably may because they choose to speak this way or, in Lennie's case, they might have no other choice. The writer includes only a limited amount of imagery except for George and Lennie's grandiose illusions of an alternate reality where they are able to subsist on their own and "live off the fatta' the land." The language is quite plain with occasional rudeness, shrewdness and crudeness which would only typify the stereotypical "ranch hand." The diction does, indeed, indicate the social status and education of the characters.

The author uses George to kill Lennie because of the friendship and connection they share with each other. These two characters may show they dont have the same type of sympathy and compassion for each on the outside but on the inside their is a true deep connection of feelings towards another. He uses George as the victim and lennie as the suspect to show that love can get you killed. The people closes to can be your enemy at any moment. The author uses George to kill Lennie instead of the men because he didnt want him to feel pain if he allowed the other man to shoot him. So he decided to find Lennie as fast as he could before the man could get him to end his life with peace. George wanted to kill Lennie himself but out of love. At the same time I understand George decision and how he felt but he still had no right and Lennie deserves justice because Lennie was special` just needed someone who was able to give him that attention George was able to do but got confused towards the end.

Of Mice and Men is written mainly in third person. The perspective is recent, written in the present tense. The third person character is limited omniscient. The author reflects his personal beliefs by perhaps making it apparent that the "dummie" got the short end of the stick. The author might have had a childhood friend who was mildly retarded and bullied in some way. The author might be wanting to show us how a retarded individual could easily make a big mistake and not be entirely at fault.

Eample: When George shoots Lennie it shows that he cared for Lennie and knew that if he let the others find him they would torture him. Steinbeck shows that, in Lennie's case, people with mental illnesses were treated as inferior and misunderstood with little help in their situations. It also shows that when people are prisoners to their status, such as Curly's wife, you are driven to do dramatic and attention seeking acts that cause trouble of everyone.

Lennie is mental disable he doesnt know why he does the he does he just does it.

Example from the book: This paradise, however, is lost. The snake sliding through the water recalls the conclusion of the story of Eden, in which the forces of evil appeared as a snake and caused humanity’s fall from grace. Steinbeck is a master at symbolism, and here he skillfully employs both the snake and heron to emphasize the predatory nature of the world and to foreshadow Lennie’s imminent death. The snake that glides through the waters without harm at the beginning of the story is now unsuspectingly snatched from the world of the living. Soon, Lennie’s life will be taken from him, and he will be just as unsuspecting as the snake when the final blow is delivered.

Resolution Of The Plot

Human Rights Issues

The resolution of the plot in the book Of Mice and Men is when George decides to make a heart breaking decision to kill his best friend, Lennie. He didn't want Curley or the other men to kill Lennie because because Lennie killed Curley's Wife. Also, George didn't want Curley and the other men kill Lennie because George thinks he should kill his best friend and not some "stranger," just like Candy told George that he wanted to kill his dog, and not some "stranger." The way George kills Lennie was by shooting him in the back of the head. George wanted to kill him fast so he didn't have to suffer. Lastly George felt sad and angry for killing Lennie but he said it was the right thing to do and he said sorry to his Aunt Clara for doing what he did but it had to be done.

This is a human rights issues and the conflict between George and Lennie is an important issue. Now a days violence seems to be the key and solution's to solve a issue or problem for a situation. We humans need to realize that guns, shooting violence are not the answers. Ending other people lives is not going to give you justice or peace. Just a heart full of regret sympathy. Prison is not even a consequence anymore because people are getting off of murder chargers not getting life in prison we deserve justice for are love ones.
