Main Objectives
Magnus has two objectives throughout the book.
1. Find the Sword of Summer
2. Keep the sword away from Surt so he can't free "The Wolf" and start Ragnarök.

Ragnarök
Ragnarök is the end of the world and takes place when Fenris Wolf breaks free from the ropes binding him.
He will devour the 9 worlds by running around with his bottom jaw destroying the lower worlds and his upper jaw destroying the heavens.

- Building contest in Svartalfheim
- Staying away from Valhalla search party
- Finding Ran, the goddess of the sea
The only blade sharp enough to cut the ropes binding Fenris is the Sword of Summer. Surt seeks the sword in order to free Fenris. Magnus in turn, has to do everything in his power to stop Surt from doing just that.

- Loki- "The Wizard of Lies", God of Trickery and mischief
- Freya- Goddess of Beauty, love, war, and death
- Surt- God of fire and destruction
- Fenris wolf- Son of Loki, during Ragnarök "doomsday", Fenris wolf will break free from his ropes and will devour everything in his path.
Other Characters
- Blitzen- dwarf son of Freya making him technically Magnus's cousin
- Hearthstone- a deaf elf who is great at controlling magical runestones
- Sam- a fallen valkyrie (official of Valhalla)
Magnus Chase
Frey
Frey is the god of fertility and wealth. A peaceful Norse god. Even though he is peaceful, his sword, the Sword of Summer, is the sharpest blade in all the nine worlds.
