http://www.answers.com/Q/What_do_you_call_a_scientist_who_studies_cells

  • Comes from Latin cella which means small room
  • Living organism
  • Often called the "building blocks of life"
  • Can replicate independently

Cell Membrane

The Cell Membrane completely surrounds cells and keeps their interiors separate from their environment. It is made of fat molecules with hydrophobic tails, meaning that they are repelled by water, and hydrophillic heads, meaning that they are attracted by water. This is called the Phospholipid bilayer

Nucleus

The nucleus is where the DNA is kept and RNA is transcribed. RNA is moved out of the nucleus through the nuclear pores. Proteins needed inside the nucleus are moved in through the nuclear pores. The nucleolus is usually visible as a dark spot in the nucleus, and is the location of Ribosome formation.
