- Strongly believed that communists had infiltrated many ways of the American life including the government and the entertainment industry
- Ultimately was disbanded in 1975
- HUAC formed in 1938, May 26th
- Created to investigate disloyalty and espionage in the states, specifically communism.
- Prominent members of the committee included Richard Nixon and Joseph McCarthy
Hollywood Blacklist
- Practice of denying employment to screen writers, actors, and any other jobs related to the entertainment industry
- People who were members or suspected of being part of the American Communist Party were blocked from work
